Who We Are

Mission & History

Meet Us - Baytown Habitat

We are a non-profit, ecumenical, Christian ministry that builds simple, decent, affordable homes in partnership with those in need.

What We Do

Baytown Habitat for Humanity provides safe, affordable homes for hardworking families in the Baytown area through a community-based model that blends volunteer engagement, financial education, and partnership housing. Our program includes applicant screening, homeowner education, sweat equity hours, and construction of new energy efficient homes built alongside volunteers and community partners. Families purchase their homes with an affordable mortgage that supports long term stability.

Beyond construction, the program strengthens families through financial classes, home maintenance training, community events, and wraparound support. We also engage corporate and civic groups in volunteer days, which increases community investment and broadens the impact of each build. Every home we complete adds long term value to the neighborhood and helps break cycles of overcrowded or unsafe housing.

Our Vision

A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Our Mission

Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Mission Statements

  • Demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ

We undertake our work to demonstrate the love and teachings of Jesus, acting in all ways in accord with the belief that God’s love and grace abound for all and that we must be “hands and feet” of that love and grace in our world. Through faith, the minuscule can be multiplied to accomplish the magnificent, and in faith, respectful relationships can grow among all people.

  • Focus on Shelter

To manifest God’s love, we have created opportunities for all people to live in a decent, durable shelter. We put faith into action by helping build, renovate, or preserve homes and partnering with others to accelerate and broaden access to affordable housing as a foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty.

  • Promote dignity and hope.

We believe that no one lives in dignity until everyone can. Every person has something to contribute and gain from creating communities where all people have decent, affordable places to live. Dignity and hope are best achieved through equitable, accountable partnerships.

  • Advocate for affordable housing.

In response to the prophet Micah’s call to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, we promote decent, affordable housing for all and support the global community’s commitment to housing as a fundamental human right. We will advocate for a just and fair housing policy to eliminate the constraints that contribute to poverty housing. And, in all of our work, we will seek to put a shelter in hearts and minds in such powerful ways that poverty housing becomes socially, politically, and religiously unacceptable.

  • Support sustainable and transformational development.

We view our work as successful when it transforms lives and promotes positive and lasting social, economic, and spiritual change within a community; based on mutual trust and fully shared accomplishment and demonstrates responsible stewardship of all resources entrusted to us.

Home Doormat

Their first bedroom starts with YOU.

For children who have never had their own bedroom, these dreams mean everything. Every gift helps Baytown Habitat build a safe home where a family can put down roots and children can simply be kids.
