GET INVOLVED
BECOME A VOLUNTEER

Are you interested in becoming a volunteer? We would love to have you! Please review the following guidelines and the volunteer documents on the right. You can also fill out our Volunteer Interest Form, and we’ll contact you with more information.

Age Policy

  • All construction and volunteers must be age 16 or older to assist on a Baytown Habitat for Humanity construction site or in our office.
  • One adult supervisor should accompany every seven youth volunteers (ages 16-18). Adults are responsible for following all applicable Baytown Habitat for Humanity construction site and age restriction policies.

What To Wear

  • Closed-toe tennis shoes or boots are required.
  • Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty are strongly encouraged. Anything you want to avoid getting stained, painted, or dirty is not. Wear comfortable clothing that is appropriate for a work site. Light-colored, cotton clothing and a hat are recommended for the summer (shorts are okay). Layered clothing is recommended for the winter.
  • Jewelry is not allowed because it can get damaged or lost very easily. Please leave your valuables at home! There is no storage space at the construction site!

What To Bring

  • Suggested items to bring if you have them: work gloves, earplugs, and safety glasses. You’ve only got two eyes, and you need to protect them. You can get a good pair of safety glasses at home center stores. We have safety glasses and work gloves on site as well.
  • Do not bring purses, pets, or children under 16 to the construction site or the offices.

Other Information

  • No drugs or alcohol are allowed at the construction site or the administrative offices.
  • Do not bring purses, pets, or children under 16 to the construction site or the offices.
  • Volunteers are asked not to park in front of anyone’s driveway or mailbox.
  • Radios and iPods are not allowed on the construction site or the as they are a distraction and can cause a safety hazard.
  • Construction locations, workdays, and assignments are subject to change due to the unpredictable nature of volunteer construction work. Your patience and cooperation are appreciated to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment.
  • We encourage all volunteers to embrace our community partners and neighbors as you build with us on-site. As you work with us, please remember to remain mindful of your environment and always utilize sound judgment. If you have any concerns or questions, don’t hesitate to contact the Construction Supervisors working on the site.

If you have additional questions please reach out to DiAnne Wilson at 281-427-0866 for more information.
